Why you shouldn’t buy CBD on Amazon
Amazon has brought convenience to almost every home. You can Amazon Prime pretty much anything and get it delivered the next day - in some cases 2 hours!
It’s no wonder people head straight to Amazon to tip their toe in the CBD pond. But here’s why they shouldn’t.
Amazon’s Stance on CBD
Amazon clearly state in their Restricted products list
“Listings for products containing cannabidiol (CBD) are prohibited, including but not limited to:
It makes sense. They can’t test every product to ensure it is a suitable grade of CBD e.g from hemp and not marijuana. They avoid it completely and save the hassle of lawsuits if someone ingests something that is not listed correctly.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case. When you search “CBD Oil” on Amazon there are, currently, 7 pages of CBD oil - or what looks like CBD oil. So what is this stuff?
Why is there ‘CBD oil’ on Amazon?
The reason you’ll find CBD oil on Amazon is because of the “tags” the seller is using. It’s a way of targeted popular search terms without actually having them in the title since this would tip Amazon off.
If you look carefully, the word “CBD” isn’t even used in the product listing titles. If they were, Amazon would remove them.
Many bypass this by labeling their products as “hemp oil” which does not contain CBD. Some hemp oils even add labels like “250mg” on them which can mean 250mg of something else or just a straight-up marketing ploy.
It also worth noting that Amazon reviews should always be taken with a pinch of salt. We used Fakespot and found that many of the reviews on the products are in fact fake.
